Not Every day.
I’m writing a lot more than I have been in the last few years. There was a time where I thought all the words inside of me had dried up and blown away like dust.
Things have changed, life has changed and sometimes it’s hard to keep up with old habits. That’s why we make new ones.
People have been asking me why I’ve decided to write something new. It just feels right. It feels like the right course correct for me at this time. Maybe I’ll go back to horror/thriller. Maybe I’ll flip flop between them both. Who know? Maybe I’ll get really crazy and try something totally different in a year.
I’m about 78 pages into the novel. It’s going well, I think. I’m making illustrations for it, no particular order, just for scenes that I really like. Will these be apart of this book? I haven’t decided yet.
I hope people read it, because I really enjoy writing it. Think Secret of Nimh meets the end of the world. I know. I probably just dated myself right there.
Her Name is Not Mother
That’s the title of my book.
It’s set in a world where humans have died off. Animals are anthropomorphic in a sense.
The main character is a mouse who comes from a place where the only destiny for her is to have children. That’s not something she wants to do.
This is a story of her finding herself, of breaking past everything she ever was told and believed to be true.
In this story, she has no name.
She’s on a path to find who she is. Along the way she finds friends, enemies, and adventure.
Am I Done With Horror?
I ask myself this question a lot lately. Am I done writing horror/thrillers?
The answer is maybe.
There’s so much awfulness going on in the world right now that I felt like I needed a pivot. Not a full stop, maybe.
I’ve been writing something completely different. It’s going quite well, so far. It’s kind of a dark fantasy in a world where there are no people left.
I plan on using this page to write about how that’s going, the good and the bad. I’ll be posting updates and sneak peaks and drawings I’m creating as well.
I hope you stay tuned to what I have coming next.
